Original oil & acrylic paintings — studio in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria

I’m Gayatri
“Childhood has its own ways of seeing, thinking, and feeling.”
— Jean-Jacques Rousseau
I’m a contemporary artist, wife and mother, originally from India and now calling Melbourne, Australia home. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
My love of drawing and creating is what first led me to study architecture. Although architecture became my profession, I never really left art behind. I kept coming back to it, and over time painting became the way I most wanted to express myself.
I paint mainly in oils and acrylics. I love colour, light, texture and expressive brushwork. For me, painting is about capturing a moment and the story within it. I want my work to create a connection with the viewer.
I’m especially drawn to childhood—the friendships, imagination, curiosity and simple moments that can become lasting memories. I love capturing those moments in paint: the ones that might seem ordinary at the time, but somehow stay with us long after childhood has passed.
Artist Statement
“I paint moments of joy, connection and wonder. Through colour, light and expressive brushwork, I hope to capture the lost moments we remember and cherish.
